Welcomed our little space of Ramen and Sushi at Old City Philadelphia

We served hakata style tonkotsu ramen with our rich and flavoreful broth. We boiled pork bones for 24 hours to get the richness from bone marrow, then add other ingredients to make it perfect.

"Generally, loud signage and/or dual specialties are usually a huge turn-off for me, but my desire to find good sushi in Old City pushed me into Roe Thai and Japanese for the first time.

Beyond the front door, the space is actually pretty nice with a small sushi bar for four and table seating for about 16 people – give or take (I don’t count very well when I’m hungry).

The décor is simple making the space feel comfortable in a slightly upscale kind of way......

The food was fresh and better than most mid-level sushi places downtown and the space was relaxing. Next time I head over I’m going to try mixing it up with a Thai app of some sort and a sushi roll, one of the chicken rice dishes or one of the veggie Thai dishes.

Gotta love a place with some variety.. "

" New Old City restaurant Roe Thai and Japanese Contemporary has just opened. At 138 Chestnut St. the new spot has an extensive menu of Thai and Japanese dishes as well as a sushi bar. The prices on the menu range from $2 soups to $19 lobster rice dishes, so there is a combo to accommodate every budget, as noted by Midtown Lunch who recently tried it out."

" Long ago a sign popped up in the window of 138 Chestnut Street, announcing the impending arrival of a contemporary Japanese restaurant. Fast forward to today, and the sign for Roe is lighting up Old City, along with some intense sushi rolls, and a plethora of Thai cuisine on an absolutely huge menu.

The interior is slick and very modern, much like new Philly fave Fat Salmon at 7th and Walnut Streets. The prices are quite high, but considering the location, they're not eye-poppingly ridiculous. The menu is stuffed with soups, salads, chef specialties (mostly Thai), sushi rolls, small bites, and desserts. Midtown Lunch has already dropped by, and has a few solid suggestions for those looking to jump in this weekend. Roe is open for lunch and dinner all week, but they're closed on Sunday. "
